Finally....I woke up this morning and put my
"Big girl panties" on.
No more issues with fruit bowls and stressing over being a
Pokey Little Puppy, when it comes to completing layouts.
That's pretty much "how I roll"
I'm sssssssloooooooooooow.
But you know what?
I take my time,
and enjoy the process.
And when I do,
this is what I can create:
Nothing too fancy and not as many details as my typical layout. But I think it's totally groovy and really fits my son's personality when he's on his skim board.
I used:
Cardstock: Bazzill brown and bitter chocolate....I usually use Java, but I ran out.
Patterned paper: New Bobunny line (Pep Rally Dot, Teen Chic Kiwi, Ocean Dot, Beachy Keen Hibiscus, Aquamarine Dot, Decaf Dot, and Beachy Keen Lei)
Chipboard letters and wave shapes: Bobunny DoubleDot Chipboard in bare naked, BasicGrey's Wilma
Ink: Colorbox Chestnut roan and Dark brown. Uni-ball Signo Black gel pen. Zig millennium in pure black
Sticker letters: Thickers Sprinkles (item #42802)
Bling: a gift from Mia during the Valentines Day Swap
Hmmm, where to start...
I ink/edge almost everything. Here, you can get an idea of what paper I used as my base, and where everything else goes:
I used the Bobunny chipboard. I covered it with the solid side of Ocean Dot and sanded the edges. I turned
the flourishes on their sides and created waves. Then I covered the waves with my journaling. The journaling on the bottom of the page is identical to the writing on the wave...just decided to write it again to make it easier to read. I adhered the waves to the solid side of the decaf paper and mounted that to the green patterned paper.
The journaling reads: Alexander, i love watching you ride your skim board. You are so cool and confident. U have amazing balance, groovy hair, and awesome style. You are totally cool, dude...04/4007
I cut the flowers from Beachy Keen Hibiscus. I sewed the flower centers down, inked
the edges in brown, and added a little doodling and some bling. To
give the flowers dimension, I only glued them down by their centers,
and then I crumpled in the petals. The mini flowers were done the same
way. I just added the dots from the "i's" and punctuation from the
thickers letters.
Crumpling the flowers really adds some nice dimension. The effect isn't as pronounced when the layout is sitting in its page protector, but on my scrap table, it looks pretty cool.
I inked the chipboard letters in chestnut roan and dark brown. I added a few thickers to some of the chipboard letters to add color and dimension.
I free-handed scallops on the piece of Teen chic kiwi, punched holes in the center of the scallops, and outlined everything with my black Signo.
I outlined my son's image and doodled on the smaller photo. I added journaling: Just skimming down the line...
The scallops and circles aren't perfect, but they were totally fun creating-- and that Uni-ball Signo gel pen is awesome. I normally buy mine online, but I'm hoping Michelle orders them for Scrapbook Central!
I think that's pretty much everything. I'm not quite sure I'll continue to post all the details on my blog...it takes forever to edit and I still can't get it to look the way I want. Most likely, I'll just keep posting details to my Scrapbook Central gallery and tell my blog readers to go there if they're interested in the close-ups!
Thanks for looking. I have to go do the mom thing now. My poor 9 year old has the FCAT tomorrow. I know he'll do fine. I figure, I need to feed his little brain a well balanced meal. Any ideas???? If anyone has any links to easy, but tasty meals in under an hour, please post them!!!!
