then came you
This is what I'm working on currently...it IS a rough draft. I just wanted to show you why I haven't updated my blog. I'm actually working on something. This is what's sitting on my desk and it's not glued down yet...
scary, huh?
Anyway, I haven't figured out what color to paint/ink the chipboard letters, so they're pretty much just sitting there, raw. Oh, I got those awesome American Crafts chipboard letters from my Easter Swap partner, Mary Jo!!! Thanks Mary Jo! They came in the mail yesterday. I still have to take pictures of all the goodies she sent me. I'll do that in another post.
I know it's premature since the layout is still unfinished, but I couldn't resist a few closeups:
begins the sentence is on the
far left hand side of the
layout...kinda caught up in
my puffy afro.
You can see it in the picture of the layout at the beginnng of this post.
My favorite part of this layout are the flowers:
I think they're the best thing on my layout...along with the cool chipboard letters from Mary Jo!
I love layers and I love the layering in these flowers. The center of the flowers are "Say it in crystals" from Prima. I got it in my Studio Calico kit. I'm hoping we can get them at Scrapbook Central. I need to ask Michelle about that since I'm using them in a DT layout, hee hee. Yes, I'm being naughty. I'm only supposed to use materials from my DT kit, but sometimes you just gotta think "outside the box"...and use materials "outside of your DT kit"...oh, I might get in trouble for this, hee hee.
A few more photos. I promise, I'm almost done. It's just that a few of you have asked me about my creative process. I work in layers...duh. I know, I know, it looks totally obvious when you look at it in photographs. I don't just mean literally, sillies.
I started here:
Moved along to this:
And I'm currently posting WHERE I AM NOW WITH THE LAYOUT...did you pick up on the subtle changes/additions?
So what does it all mean? Well...it means that
I've already shoved this layout aside to work on something else. Then, as the mood strikes me, I'll return to this layout and complete it. That's what I mean by "I work in layers". I do a little now...work on something else...get a bite to eat...clean my house...go chomp on some "dairy products"...mow the lawn...and finally come back and "add another layer" of work. Does that make sense? Mmmm, I love dairy...
Okay, this is my chaotic, creative space. I share it with my husband. Our computer lives on his desk, all the way in the back of the photo.
That's now my "blogging" space. I spend about 2 hours posting to my blog...A few of you have asked me where I find the time...The truth is, I don't really have any. I just plop down, tell the boys I'm working, and then allow them to destroy my house.
I normally have layouts lined all along my workspace and I literally walk from layout to layout. That's why, if you know me, you know that I don't ever sit down at a crop. I don't use a chair...I just kinda pace back and forth, shifting things on my layouts and looking though my supplies.
I love my creative space. My husband built it for my birthday last year, a few months after I completed my first layout. I think he was so happy that I started using the supplies I've been collecting for years, that he went all out and converted this space for me. It was HIS space, full of all his books. He extended it to run along the windows that overlook the pool, and then added a "table top" so I could actually do my layouts on it. The lighting in this room is amazing...it's my happy place...and it's "connected" to the family room, so I can keep my eye on the boys while I work.
Okay, I'll leave the rest of the closeups for when I actually complete the layout, because in all honesty, by the time I'm finished with it, it could look totally different. But before I go, here's where I'll stick just a little journaling.
You all know how I feel about the journaling...
