swing by and check it out...and yes, I know I haven't been here in awhile. My apologies. I'm working through some things. I'll be back soon. Promise.

totally rawks!!!
Especially if you've been to Vicki Boutin's blog (and you're me) and have seen this (taken from her blog):
March 17, 2009
Now for the winner of the RAK. I know it has been a long time since I posted the thread so how about I send out 2!
Here is the first lucky recipient of a set of stamps...
And #2...
love the cards! i have been trying to get out of a creative slump, so I guess you can say i've been blog stalking :) yours is always inspirational!
No.
Your monitor isn't all jacked up.
My pool is green.
It was a beautiful BLUE until my wonderful husband decided that he could save us the $25/month it cost to keep it maintained.
Now, for roughly $100/month, it is a beautiful shade of SWAMP-GREEN.
I've tried to pretend that I haven't noticed the change in color.
But remember, my beautiful scrap space overlooks our pool.
So now, I get pictures like this
I call it "Cupcake stand with Dirty Window and Green Pool"
Speaking of cupcake stands, I'm still on the hunt for groovy little bowls.
I found these glass bowls at Target
in both clear and blue, with cute little bubbles blown into the glass.
I think I like them. Only 10 more bowls to go! Thanks for all of your suggestions for bowls, by the way. I'm still in the process of trying them all out :)
I'm a collector of journaling cards and little MME diecuts. I don't know what it is. I just can't help myself. So while at Target this morning, I purchased this:
What the heck is it, you ask?
The tag said "plate charger".
I'm using it for these:
my little journaling cards and diecuts. Sorry about the photo. The lighting wasn't cooperating with me today. Anyway, I'm going to hang it on my wall to make those little guys more accessible for use on my layouts.
Oh, since the plate charger is made out of wire, I used mini magnetic clothespins and a few magnets to hold the cards/diecuts in place.
If you're interested, I found it in the Easter section, where the plastic eggs and dyes are displayed.
I can't seem to stay away from my favorite little store, Anthropologie...
so...
I'm adding this to my scrap area.
It's supposed to be used as a butter dish.
But who in their right mind would slap greasy butter on this?
It's just too yummy. I keep my jewelry in it...not all of my jewelry sillies. Just my rings and Brighton bracelet. The charms drive me crazy when I scrap, so now I have somewhere pretty to keep my bracelet when I take it off.
I know what you're thinking....
...you bought a butter dish from Anthropologie for your stupid bracelet?
No sillies.
I bought the butter dish from Anthropologie because
IT'S PRETTY!
I'm putting my jewelry in it to JUSTIFY me spending $18 on it!
And no, I didn't win the lottery. I'm using the last of my gift cards on "useless", but FUN gifts for myself!
My husband said I'm turning into a "PRINCESS".
I told him "Thank You". I figure, life's too short. Every woman deserves to be a Princess at least once in this lifetime...and my time is NOW....so I guess you can say that I'm just "Princess-ing" around :)
*Sigh*
I know this is turning into a long post.
Sorry.
I only have one picture left and this one is the most important.
My dear friend Diana sent me this beautiful card
and yeah, you know I had to go out and buy something HAPPY to display it on. I purchased the "Happy Spring" place card holder at Target as well. It was meant to be. It happened to be sitting right next to the plate chargers, heehee.
If you haven't already done so, reset your clocks. I forgot to change a few of mine and have been late to a few places today already!
Oh, and by the way...I don't live at Target. I took Alexander there this morning to buy a pair of Converse (with his own money). I know I've said this before, but my sons totally RAWK!
Enjoy your Sunday.

a layout using these flowers for a challenge on the
I made them using fabrips
from Studio Calico.
But of course, while stalking Vicki Boutin's blog, I found this
I personally like what she did better. I don't think she used fabrips, but I think leaving a "space" between the edges looks pretty groovy. And I like the beads she stuck in the middle.
Well, I'm off to bed. My eyeballs are droopy. I have this sinus-thing going on right now and I'm on benadryl....uuugh.
I hope you have a great weekend, and NO, I haven't finished reading my book yet :)
xo
Not because the bowls that I chose aren't cute.
(Look how happy they look together)
And I think that they're totally functional.
It's just that I have to buy 18 bowls! And although I planned on buying them slowly, my cupcake stand looks sad with just the two measly bowls that I bought from Anthropologie.
No, I'm not posting a picture of the sad little stand.
Anway, I also thought about buying these for the stand instead of bowls:
They're little silicone cupcake holders. They could be groovy.
Anyway, if you have any sites for groovy bowls, link me up pretty please.
Guess what I did?
I signed up for this class
The Photographer's Workshop by Karen Russell!
I can't believe I got in! Registration opened today, so at 12 pm, I was frantically typing like a crazy person and by 12:02, I was registered! Anyway, the class runs from June 8 - August 16th and I get to take it with my friend Sharon who signed up as well!
I'm not going to be blogging this week.
I have to read a book.
My vocabulary has taken a nose-dive...Not that this book is going to increase it significantly.
However, I did try to read
Uuuuh. I'm on page 45. I've been there for 2 months now. It just didn't suck me in.
Does anyone have any favorite books they can suggest?
Oh, before I forget...
On Saturday I spent the day with these lovely ladies
celebrating Damaris's birthday.
Can you believe she gave us these as party favors?
Damaris is truly phenomenal. If you live locally, you really have to swing by her blog and sign up to take one of her classes. She has an amazing laugh and really great energy.
that's all for now. I have an hour to read before Heroes comes on.
xo
at Tarzhay. After hearing so much about it while hanging out at Damaris's yesterday, I got up bright and early this morning to find one. I found mine on an endcap in the "seasonal" area, kind of in-between stationary and the kitchen section. It appeared to be part of their Easter collection.
and the bottom tier, which I filled with diecuts and journaling cards
I also bought a groovy cupcake stand which I can't wait to fill with mini bowls of sequins, rhinestones, and little yummies. Here's a close-up of what I need mini bowls for
Well, I'm off to Anthropologie. They have the coolest little kitchen section. I'm hoping to find a few groovy bowls there.
I'll be back later to post pictures of where I hung out yesterday...and had the most wonderful time!
xo
I'll be here @ Studio Calico buying this:
Their kits go on sale at midnight and I really must have that Taffeta add-on!!! I love all the new GIRL FRIDAY from Cosmo Cricket!!!
Anyone else buying this yummy kit?
Have a great weekend

and wanted to curl up into a little ball and cry.
But we were late picking up my older son,
so there was no "curl up into a ball" time.
Just the crying.
And the bitterness.
And the desire to scream out every horrible curse word I could imagine or even make up.
I was in so much pain, I actually made up words...
but only said them inside my little head
because my 5 year old was holding my hand.
He kissed my booboo
and thought that his spit was magical.
He's so sweet.
I lied to him.
I told him his kiss was magic.
And that my finger no longer hurt.
But it did.
SPIT IS NOT MAGICAL!!!!
It has absolutely no healing power whatsoever!
I felt like a bad mom.
How many times had I kissed my son's booboo
and then
sent him on his merry little way.
Stop crying, I'd say.
You're fine.
Mommy kissed it.
It's all better.
I suck.
My son has smashed his fingers,
bonked his head,
done countless belly flops onto the sidewalk.
And I've kissed them
and shooed him away.
Now I know better.
This post is to all those moms out there,
me being one of them, heehee...
who thinks that their spit is magic.
I'm here to tell you
that IT IS NOT.
Go slam your finger in the door
or
hit your head on the corner of your coffee table.
Put your finger in your mouth.
I did.
I practically stuck my whole hand in there.
Does it feel better?
No.
It just stinks
like sour saliva.
So,
what I'm trying to say is
the next time your child gets hurt
skip the kiss.
Give them a frickin' hug, a pack of ice, and maybe a motrin or two.
Hope you guys are having a good evening. Yes, my finger is better. I had a beer and some snuggle time with my family.
xo
this year. Whew, I've had this mojo block for so long. It feels good to actually finish something.
I used MME's Penny Lane and a few pieces of Basic Grey's porcelain and marrakech.
I used a lot of "paper crumpling" in this layout. Here's my "rough draft". If you compare them, you can see where I added elements and totally omitted things from the finished layout.
To my "rough draft", I added
flowers, edged in creamy brown.
I curved the edges upward.
You can do this with your fingernail or stick the flower on the end of a pencil
(yes, I need a manicure and maybe a little lotion, heehee)
I added journaling and
creased and inked the "rainbow arches" .
The "arches" were made from this
cut in half, minus the journaling spot.
I added pp from BasicGrey that I crumpled
A few of you have asked me about gluing the crumpled paper to your layout. You have to make sure you put adhesive on the wrinkles that matter to you. Does that make sense? If you want a particular crease "to keep", it has to have adhesive on it so that it sticks permanently to your layout.
Otherwise, if you flatten it with your hand, it will disappear. Another trick to emphasizing the crease is to run your fingernail up and down it, kinda pinching it with your nail. You can also add a touch of creamy brown ink to the raised edge of your crease or instead of allowing your crease to "stand upright", push it down so it lays either to the left or right. Anyway, that's how I work my creases.
Oh, and a note on crinkling photos...I only crinkled/crumpled the "dead space"
You can see in this photo that my son is "untouched". ( I held the photo at an angle to create shadows, so you could see this clearly)
And then instead of gluing the crinkled photo directly to my layout, I glued it onto a scrap piece of cardstock and trimmed around it.
Remember that photo paper is thicker and less pliable than pp and cardstock. It takes more adhesive for a photo to stay put when you are trying to create your crinkles.
My poor butterfly was looking pretty sad, so I punched a few circles in his wings and added stick-pin antennae.
I think that's pretty much it for that layout.
Here's what's currently on my work space in "rough draft" form
and a few close-ups
It's more MME paper with a little bit of old Sass, some Amy Butler, and a little bit of October Afternoon. I'll post the finished version when it's done.
Hope you had a great weekend. I can't believe tomorrow's Monday....man, I can't wait till Summer...
xo
First, love the cards, the bright posies on the crafts is fantastic! What have I been up to...well I've started working full time outside the home after being a SAHM for 4yrs. It's busy, tiring, but we're all adjusting well!
